Orphan Adoption Quilt Kit / Fabric Giveaway!

Are you ready for another Quilty Orphan Adoption event?
Are your UFO piles excessive? Too many for one quilter to complete in a lifetime?
Seriously, I want to move on already!

One of my favorite linkups, hosted by Cynthia from Quilting is More Fun Than Housework, allows us to match a UFO up with a suitor. If you enjoy making donation quilts, this is a linkup you will LOVE!
Quilting is more fun than Housework
This time around, I am looking for a recipient for a sweet baby quilt!
The kit includes fabric from Mama's Cottons 2, a thirties-style line produced in 08-09 by Connecting Threads. The prints are of medium-weight and perfect for a 32" sq. baby quilt!

Fabric and pattern are included for the Windmills blocks, the large border, and the backing:
The 1/2 yard of orange fabric is missing (for the inner border and binding).
Someone must have needed it(!)

Of course, you can make any pattern you wish if you win the kit!
Do you know someone special you would like to make this for? Do you make donation quilts? Does this call to you for any specific reason? I like thinking the quilt will be completed, and wind up somehow where it was 'meant' to be. The romantic in me I suppose ;)

Please leave a comment and let me know! A winner will be selected on Tuesday, March 22nd. If there is more than one great fit, I will do like Cynthia and draw a name from a hat!

The package weighs one pound.
I will ship free within the U.S. (or internationally if you are willing to pay the post!).

Not affiliated here, just a love-struck fan who cannot get enough:
Happy Mail from my Sew Simple Saturday winnings over at Sew and Sow Farm!

Thank you Jan!!

  1. I would love to make this for my sister-in-law. Things have been pretty tough for her lately and because of circumstances we haven't been able to see each other much. It would be a hug that she could hang on wall.

  6. I love the 30's fabrics and have them in my younger daughter's room. This would made a fabulous wall hanging for her uninsulated walls (our house is really old, almost none of it has insulation).

  7. I love the kit and the pattern. I've wanted to do that design for a long time. If I won, I'd make it for a baby who has lost a soldier parent. An extra little hug. I could make it bigger with some fabric I have here that goes with those. I think any of us you choose will be a great choice! Thanks for the offer. desertskyquilting.wordpress.com ~dezertsuz at gmail

  10. I'd love to make this for a little girl I haven't met. She is 5 years old and is the niece of a friend of my daughter. This little girl has brain and spinal cancer. I've made her a purple (her favorite color), fleece, mowhawk with long braids hat and have been wanting to make her some more things. I cannot even imagine what this girl has gone through in her short life.

  13. We just got a refugee family from the Congo in our community last week. They've been living in a refugee camp in Tanzania for over a decade (!) and have 6 children, two quite small. I'd love to give them a quilt (or 7) to welcome them to our community.

  16. I would make it and donate it for our Quild. We sew for women's shelter. Last year we made over 100 quilts. Not bad for a bunch of crazy, old ladies.

    1. I am quite partial to Linus Quilts Anna, and have several I hope to finish this year!
I am SO very pleased with the response for this kit, and especially that the quilt is going to find it's way to a new home!

I do regret that I am unable to contact SIX people who have commented here, all with great intentions for this quilt: Quilt455, Melissa, Jennie, Anna, and rrjane.

If you are a no-reply blogger, please leave your email address with your comment!

  24. Heidi, I'd love to share it w/my local chapter of the American Sewing Guild.
Our chapter, does sewing (flannel blankets, quilts) for several human services agencies for new parents whom are w/o or limited financial resources.
Thank you so much for caring from the heart.

  29. How fun to play with someone else's fabrics--and bonus, this is such a cute kit! I enjoy making donation quilts too; I would donate it to the Quilts For Kids group. I've made many for them and this would be so fun to send to them! Thanks for a chance at that.
