OMG It's Finished: October!

With one week left for October finishes, I must finally admit that my own quilty goal is just not happening this month.
Now more than ever, I need to see your finishes, so that I may live vicariously!
I have managed to stitch a few rays of sunshine this month.
Usually, I make two Kite Tail blocks each month, for Rainbow Scrap Challenge.
I need extras though, to total 24 blocks. So this month I made a third, with the yellow and orange colorway for October RSC.
These blocks require a lot of cutting and apparently this third block was just one too many for me. The day after I pressed and trimmed my strips for the 'extra' one, my wrists swelled and gave me grief like never before. I am still unable to cut, and only very limited computer time. I have managed to stitch the third block together, in five minute increments, over the past two weeks.

Hopefully, I can figure the exact cause of this soon, but for now I hope you understand if I seem quite anti-social! I regret that I will not be able to reply to comments until I am comfortable once again on the PC. I will be able to read your posts, and want you to know I am cheering for you, and that I am so very appreciative of your participation!

This is the FQ bundle I put together for the OMG, October prize-pool!

  1. Ohhh Heidi, so sorry to hear about your inability to sew--that would throw me into a tail spin! But your blocks turned out gorgeous. Hope you get your healthy wrists & sewing vibe back soon!

  6. I'm sad for you and for me! I'm not finishing either, but not in pain like you. I hope this doesn't last much longer, and you figure it out so it doesn't happen again. No answers required! I'm sorry to miss my chance at that lovely prize!

  9. Oh dear - I'm sorry to hear about your wrist - OUCH. Do you have a brace (like a tensor brace) to wear, to help with the pain? I have one for each wrist, depending on what hurts when - they're really helpful at night when I sleep. Oh - and remember that housework uses a lot of wrist action - you may want to - you know - do as little as possible ;)

This was my first run at OMG - I set my goal low because I was trying to finish Christmas presents early in October (so I could deliver them in person and save a fortune in postage :D), but I managed to finish more than I planned! Without this kick in the butt I still wouldn't even be started on the project, so I'm VERY pleased :D Will post this weekend when I can get some pictures :)

  11. Sorry to hear about your wrists. I get something like that in the back of my hand, but it's more from doing too much ironing...like with applique, or pressing lots of seams. Hope you're better soon. I'm working like mad on my goal, but I'm not quite there yet. Will be linking up soon.

  14. The problem with your wrists sounds very painful and I also hope that it clears up soon. I love the sunshiny blocks you made and must let you know that this month I think I will fall short of my goal, but I have made much progress and I am grateful to you for holding the OMG link ups because at least it got me started. All the best with your recovery.

  16. OUCH, no fun when your pain inhibits your cutting and sewing! That's not my reason for not getting my OMG ready to post. I had too many days that I wasn't home. I hate when my calendar is full of STUFF that takes me out of my Quilt Zone. Better luck for next month.

  18. Sorry to hear about your wrists. I had a shoulder problem earlier this year, turned out t was related to my computer set up at home. I changed where I set up my computer and the shoulder problems have gone away. Get better soon!

  19. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! (Hope it's not carpal tunnel).

  20. Love your blocks! I hope your wrist heals quickly--it's no fun to sew if you are in pain! I have cortisone injections in both my wrists for arthritis. I thought I had carpal tunnel, but after seeing a specialist and the correct diagnosis, my wrists are feeling pretty good most of the time. Take care!

  21. Ouch... I'm sorry. You better get your wrist checked out. There may be an easy remedy. It may be a sign of something more serious. I hope you get better soon!

  22. Sorry to hear about your wrist, hopefully better soon. You may need to go in a soft cast for awhile. There are some really nice finishes again this month. Sad to say I only got half done with mine so I will try again.
