I hope you will enjoy a bit of catch-uP!<br />
<br />
Without an actual plan for layout, I decided I need more blocks to finish my Aurifil Designer blocks for 2014. Last month, I added the <a href="https://auribuzz.wordpress.com/2017/04/15/aurifil-2017-april-designer-of-the-month-sue-marsh/" target="_blank">New Directions Arrow</a> blocks designed by Sue Marsh:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8pN6KXrMt1_BW_Qg4Uk3S7UHyXKezTV6xPAZEAKDAq0n91vmKqYVPyrYs0aaWeRmT7Fi4p4vxCb00u077OzSqp0fjhzZXC577tKApiTWDwZXaCIkS-oA7sNuaKeAAk5ENh0hOB0g-Kiw/s1600/which_way.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="582" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8pN6KXrMt1_BW_Qg4Uk3S7UHyXKezTV6xPAZEAKDAq0n91vmKqYVPyrYs0aaWeRmT7Fi4p4vxCb00u077OzSqp0fjhzZXC577tKApiTWDwZXaCIkS-oA7sNuaKeAAk5ENh0hOB0g-Kiw/s640/which_way.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
My 2014 blocks are various sizes, so these arrows I left separate - they may be handy for fitting things together! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWSCZa7Thgdg7Bf7W4FT0pWFpEz2nosQ0eX_0H83szlXPiiKe9A7hWIsFOuQwtMTl8OGhR_bvhkGMTbCpAN0TPFJBJn6OX-2n8HQroBYCnXw-ltDziaOKhBdNVqO_Q3e9n7HCOdJTDXK8/s1600/Aurifil+2014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWSCZa7Thgdg7Bf7W4FT0pWFpEz2nosQ0eX_0H83szlXPiiKe9A7hWIsFOuQwtMTl8OGhR_bvhkGMTbCpAN0TPFJBJn6OX-2n8HQroBYCnXw-ltDziaOKhBdNVqO_Q3e9n7HCOdJTDXK8/s640/Aurifil+2014.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Today I finished the newest block; Faux Weave by Mister Domestic:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtAdgRsiBC-vBf5hC6EDs7ig4gIV88gVbzLzKxrjXfhpMR4geRg8T_wA-BmzU0VVibk3wKWmvOu7tPuDOW_OiQ1Bi38owyyrljD6_D7WWt7dsih4iHOPvZ48oeQ6AA7fOpHa49eJXuo1I/s1600/May17BOM_Aurifil.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="635" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtAdgRsiBC-vBf5hC6EDs7ig4gIV88gVbzLzKxrjXfhpMR4geRg8T_wA-BmzU0VVibk3wKWmvOu7tPuDOW_OiQ1Bi38owyyrljD6_D7WWt7dsih4iHOPvZ48oeQ6AA7fOpHa49eJXuo1I/s640/May17BOM_Aurifil.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I did not stray from directions this time, well, other than making mine scrappy! I made eight stripsets 14" long, then sub-cut what was needed for each row. I also trimmed allowances to 1/8" so that I could press toward the red. <br />
Find Matt Boudreaux's interview and pattern <a href="https://auribuzz.wordpress.com/2017/05/15/aurifil-2017-may-designer-of-the-month-mathew-boudreaux/" target="_blank">HERE</a>.<br />
I'll be linking this block up over at <a href="http://blog.patsloan.com/aurifil-thread/" target="_blank">Pat Sloan's Blog</a> for a chance to win my favorite thread!<br />
<br />

<br />
<i><b>Are you tempted by Lori Kennedy's SPRING QUILT ALONG?</b></i><br />
I easily justified my latest impulse since I really need some FMQ practice, and it happened that all the HST's required were waiting in my scrap bin. They're leftovers from both my Summer and Winter Gathering Quilts.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX0jmTAo3guAOji97fjH2AKA1gfYZpEe7rF4X_a_WW-4-trxCBDSqxIGPzIZLL05zKHCtT9HHsPOt9o1VWt1sDMp6zSo8_oyP9UitXZDS4A2e7nbilV0r6copG9e2cTuEoPwYJ6-LCmeM/s1600/Spring+QAL.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX0jmTAo3guAOji97fjH2AKA1gfYZpEe7rF4X_a_WW-4-trxCBDSqxIGPzIZLL05zKHCtT9HHsPOt9o1VWt1sDMp6zSo8_oyP9UitXZDS4A2e7nbilV0r6copG9e2cTuEoPwYJ6-LCmeM/s640/Spring+QAL.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
The little sandwich was completed in a jiffy, and Ba-da-bing, I am on-board with the<a href="http://theinboxjaunt.com/2017/05/16/spring-quilt-a-long-the-all-important-stabilizing-step/" target="_blank"> Spring Quilt Along</a> hosted by Lori Kennedy of The Inbox Jaunt!<br />

I have lots of new RSC Blocks! In the spirit of limiting any new projects, my plan for Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017 is simply to continue adding Baby Courthouse blocks from 2016. I've been making 4 or 5 blocks each month:<br />

Completing this post feels like such an astronomical accomplishment after procrastinating for so long. I am recovering well following girlie surgery one week ago, somehow scheduled during peak snowbird season. Ty has been great and I have managed to really take things easy. We are expecting my DMIL tomorrow and I will not be required any hostess duties.<br />
<br />
May your weekend be filled with Love and Laughter -- Thank you for visiting! <br />

What a wonderful journey this! I remember making the very first dots and wondering if I would really be able to keep up with Audrey's Quilty365 Challenge for a full year...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

well, yes, I have a (near)finish, <i>and it was fun!</i><br />
I found I could keep up well if I kept 20 rings (prepared) ahead, then each day I was able to select fabric for the centers. About once per week, I could sit at my machine and finish the circles in a jiffy.<br />
<br />
Quilting the panels individually allowed me to plan a larger finish, and I was able to get right to work on the quilting. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPPH-ueJBY0PAxReYhtweNk-8f5SHhVlK0w60AM2amQEw9yDP6iQ_MWkC9PCJJLbDeaI1nqE4cr0_GwwoTkv7glythenjQRoboQ3f1zFAgrYMt5IZ2NhxHMTuNalEIIFijkvZGK9rHKr0/s1600/panel+four+sandwich.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPPH-ueJBY0PAxReYhtweNk-8f5SHhVlK0w60AM2amQEw9yDP6iQ_MWkC9PCJJLbDeaI1nqE4cr0_GwwoTkv7glythenjQRoboQ3f1zFAgrYMt5IZ2NhxHMTuNalEIIFijkvZGK9rHKr0/s640/panel+four+sandwich.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
To avoid an over-whelming UFO, I even assembled panels as I went.<br />

I wonder if the big layout-error has leapt out at anyone yet? I definitely would have preferred the panels pieced correctly, but I can only shrug and remind myself this quilt is all about character, lol. It will definitely be well-loved come winter.<br />

I keep an ever-growing stash of 1.5", 2", 2.5", 5" squares as well as a bunch of large triangles, and have been inspired recently to begin a medallion with all these "pre-cut scraps". It all began with the friendship stars, but now the center has developed from last month's <a href="https://auribuzz.wordpress.com/2017/03/15/aurifil-2017-march-designer-of-the-month-melissa-corry/" target="_blank">Aurifil Designer block of the month</a>, designed by Melissa Corry. I added the little pointy ends to her 12" block. <br />

I am working on more Friendship Stars and just staggering around the low volume blocks for now. I'm considering some applique with this one, but we'll see where it all goes!</div>

For a couple year's before we moved to the SW, we did have a beautiful game set but we chose to leave it behind with the snowblower. We've usually used our dining spaces as a lounge-type area, but currently it is an online shipping and storage area. Sometimes I really miss a dining room; when guests are here, holidays, and especially when I see <a href="https://frommycarolinahome.wordpress.com/tablescapes/" target="_blank">Carole's lovely table-scapes</a>. Last year, I sold my special china of 30+ years. Shipping them all off was a sad day really, but they had only been out of their boxes a few of those years and used a couple dozen (memorable!) times. <br />
<br />
Point is, I am without many options for a photo-shoot to share this set of quilted placemats and table runner. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGovGFprM6No1X1ddwybmM_m_jdWEVodxN7MWFHQx-myF_su_nAMUXIrDf1PNsd5WnhDYc6TXnRpCDMjZpWUBiLK2uJ39r_Ms1m8zUfmrpS9SRWLPcfklhJgTapqJoEPfvRhZimjw6GlM/s1600/braided+set.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGovGFprM6No1X1ddwybmM_m_jdWEVodxN7MWFHQx-myF_su_nAMUXIrDf1PNsd5WnhDYc6TXnRpCDMjZpWUBiLK2uJ39r_Ms1m8zUfmrpS9SRWLPcfklhJgTapqJoEPfvRhZimjw6GlM/s640/braided+set.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I wasn't sure of the dimensions needed and made the runner rather skinny to be sure it would all fit on the table... <br />
It is about 7" wide and 40something long. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmGz9MnePe58Ph5J1m3IEqhgUifYGSRCSVde7dyXWnxXP6lweEkajt6cvuWX60N_LZxcYzgpAZDI88JEBuFd_LgftCQlq0wylE3gvfhnO7JWXK5QNpfzP21dUeMQCe8XkT1bR1QAaodBE/s1600/braided+mats.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmGz9MnePe58Ph5J1m3IEqhgUifYGSRCSVde7dyXWnxXP6lweEkajt6cvuWX60N_LZxcYzgpAZDI88JEBuFd_LgftCQlq0wylE3gvfhnO7JWXK5QNpfzP21dUeMQCe8XkT1bR1QAaodBE/s640/braided+mats.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
Bound, wrapped and shipped! These were a belated-Christmas gift! I know they look Christmas-ish, but these are colors that really go well in the recipient's home and I am really hoping that they can be used year-round. <br />
The placemats were made as two panels, quilted and then cut apart into six mats. I used a new-to-me brand of quilting thread. <br />
My local LSC charges over $14 for Aurifil, and very limited in colors. I found a local embroidery shop that carries the Floriani brand. I am still an Aurifil snob, but this thread quilted really well, it is 40wt, all-cotton, and I had no problems with it at all.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Try as I may, **QAL resistance is often futile. <br />
This year, however, I am on a <strong>strict</strong> diet. I aim to finish old projects and limit new ones. The Rainbow Scrap Challenge is my only 'exception' so far, it is a flexible challenge that allows me to create, guilt-free, and satisfies a bit of my sew-along craving.<br />
Very soon,
I will play with layout of the Kite Tails blocks I made for RSC2016. <br />

I <strike>want</strike> need to hit my scraps a bit harder this year,
yet avoid new projects. Tricky, but hopefully I can make a few
smalls each month to tackle those bins, or perhaps I will just sew them
all-together and 'make' fabric for each month, lol.<br />
My 2017 RSC Blocks will be more Courthouse blocks. I only managed to finish eight last year, but I enjoyed making them and they're so cute!<br />

<br />
Sooo, I have really limited my goals for 2017. <u><br /></u>
<u>Here is what I would like to accomplish</u>:<br />
<br />
*Select <a href="http://www.elmstreetquilts.com/p/omg-one-monthly-goal.html" target="_blank">one monthly goal</a> as priority for each month. I am leaning toward setting the goal via <a href="https://www.instagram.com/redletterquilts/" target="_blank">Instagram</a>, then sharing the finish each month here on the blog. <br />
<br />
*Link regularly with RSC2017 and Oh Scrap. <br />
<br />
*Cut my stash in half(!). I am considering IG as a platform for this!<br />
<br />
*Finish, or otherwise "off" 50% of my UFO's.<br />
<br />
*Avoid new projects, with few exceptions: Overdue family quilts(one wedding and two college), items made for profit or gifts, OR, any items I deem absolutely necessary, lol.<br />
<br />
*Simplify. My 2017 word. my motto. my simple. ka-peesh.<br />
<i><b></b></i><br />

It's reflective of my holiday season really, the weeks seemed to whisper past. I'm starting the new year with a bit of catch-up, before I can <i>truly</i> embrace 2017 and a quilty goal or two...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGl9CbsO88awAjCQpshpVJGdNUy8gW9hFi-nVva2j8-y1CDjo9AFq1osOpi9PwK4auaQAOmDXLiJJyB0b9TcoglK8_iONzBSX8W0rGJhjbH8COiuoWnUdEcW6JGhNYqWTWaNJnOCFd5Og/s1600/IMG_8616.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGl9CbsO88awAjCQpshpVJGdNUy8gW9hFi-nVva2j8-y1CDjo9AFq1osOpi9PwK4auaQAOmDXLiJJyB0b9TcoglK8_iONzBSX8W0rGJhjbH8COiuoWnUdEcW6JGhNYqWTWaNJnOCFd5Og/s640/IMG_8616.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<b><i>I-Spy Cabbage</i></b> was completed and shipped in time for Christmas, however I missed the OMG Linkup over at <a href="http://www.elmstreetquilts.com/p/omg-one-monthly-goal.html" target="_blank">Elm Street Quilts!</a> I am so excited that Patty has found a way for people like me to still feel like winner's, lol! This year, she is awarding an entry for goals that do not make the intended finish line.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiizb3LziOubOdeL30JjXVsFZD_bKOXYGsMTXXOig7iMSQSGWuU3CYF1Lc4ohewwus0Jbq2J7_3hQ9kgmL9StAUfzlkGV7FhT2hmoVVoN3wofa7KVe7TNO-KtIXQbzVwYfH33RHcD8kvjY/s1600/IMG_8622.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiizb3LziOubOdeL30JjXVsFZD_bKOXYGsMTXXOig7iMSQSGWuU3CYF1Lc4ohewwus0Jbq2J7_3hQ9kgmL9StAUfzlkGV7FhT2hmoVVoN3wofa7KVe7TNO-KtIXQbzVwYfH33RHcD8kvjY/s640/IMG_8622.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I hopped onboard <a href="http://myplvl.blogspot.com/2016/05/now-open-i-spy-swap.html" target="_blank">Val's I-Spy Charm Swap</a> last year, then added additional 3.5" squares for a 45"x51" finish. The quilt was not planned; I began by making four-patches and came up with a layout from there. Four leftover four-patches are highlighted on the back.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRLtrUGMkHeHpUrPZH2ePmwXkiOi275IDv5I-3_hbkvLtD98kYd58mQqGpbu5rBDVwfBxyXyu7ErpgVacoNHPDy2fgylurXRd_s4VngUUzqY7UV2dCoYoVePaJLp0Ceqp037xtTiqqSKI/s1600/IMG_8620.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRLtrUGMkHeHpUrPZH2ePmwXkiOi275IDv5I-3_hbkvLtD98kYd58mQqGpbu5rBDVwfBxyXyu7ErpgVacoNHPDy2fgylurXRd_s4VngUUzqY7UV2dCoYoVePaJLp0Ceqp037xtTiqqSKI/s640/IMG_8620.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I finished the quilting before I realized I had not put the label on. Just the way I roll lately. Even though I had made one, I ended up writing directly on the light gray area. Terri seemed to like the idea to add all her Grandchildren's names/bd as they come about. So now I need to send her a Pigma...<br />
and what's a Pigma without a zip-pouch? <i>wink wink ;)</i><br />

There were not many guidelines given, only to avoid holiday themes. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_h1MXwo0JxLASmVFxpgIVMCB-Vkm7QyXUnPSpzKsWTvn_ZtybNwOQQiScX7z3kJHoooIOQT5icORzoOz2YO9IXyZCkh3amYTgCSL2Wn-0WmCm7vEyX2gZniq_Z2fW1EdcDawottJBCYk/s1600/dumpling+pouch+cross+stitch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_h1MXwo0JxLASmVFxpgIVMCB-Vkm7QyXUnPSpzKsWTvn_ZtybNwOQQiScX7z3kJHoooIOQT5icORzoOz2YO9IXyZCkh3amYTgCSL2Wn-0WmCm7vEyX2gZniq_Z2fW1EdcDawottJBCYk/s640/dumpling+pouch+cross+stitch.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
The inspiration came from a 7" piece of the rayon/linen fabric, found in the remnant pile at JoAnn's last week. Noticing it's metallic sheen, I immediately thought of the shiny DMC floss I've had stashed for several month's now. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfolxEZzlIzHnx3N5go433Cf7j_Yi6gwU4p5PglMZfyvdeYGeRN0A-XivJ7iYpVVhpbGEptWWkzRenMGv_jM-yQddIBWbc5knxa79EXuU1n7ivbB8DfZSV7hYq3d20rrTONunp_xzbp68/s1600/dumplingette.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfolxEZzlIzHnx3N5go433Cf7j_Yi6gwU4p5PglMZfyvdeYGeRN0A-XivJ7iYpVVhpbGEptWWkzRenMGv_jM-yQddIBWbc5knxa79EXuU1n7ivbB8DfZSV7hYq3d20rrTONunp_xzbp68/s640/dumplingette.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I stitched slowly, carefully, so as not to snag this floss as I worked, yet the stitchery was finished quickly! I chose one of my favorite Kaffe scraps for the inside PoP<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE_pzmmz-30Qe8ZA_SFM7gycKwerkJtN7yQiKorQy5cX8RUlNY5dzh2soG-Cbvv3UfsJTK69AoCLgq80HeMJgXYsKCBcICFQduCxYkCIp0o3qEw76nLBZtZq4S4QHjnrqSYJ2zq3J8JjM/s1600/dumpling+inside.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE_pzmmz-30Qe8ZA_SFM7gycKwerkJtN7yQiKorQy5cX8RUlNY5dzh2soG-Cbvv3UfsJTK69AoCLgq80HeMJgXYsKCBcICFQduCxYkCIp0o3qEw76nLBZtZq4S4QHjnrqSYJ2zq3J8JjM/s640/dumpling+inside.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
This is the smaller-sized <a href="http://keyka.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/08/lets-make-dumplings-free-zip-pouch-tutorial.html" target="_blank">Dumpling Tutorial</a> at Michelle Patterns. I had a couple mental complications and received a bit of seam ripper refreshment training, completely removing the zipper after already notching my curves. I could've avoided all that ripping if only there were a way to open the pouch from the inside lol. I think I turned the darn thing inside out and back again five more times than necessary, but I am still so happy with the result!<br />
BTW, the floss is DMC six strand and I used three strands for the over-sized cross-stitch.<br />

<br />
I need to thank y'all for your advice about selecting Kona colors! I used the <a href="http://www.play-crafts.com/blog/palettebuilder2/" target="_blank">Palette Builder at Playcrafts</a> to make mosaics to use as a starting point. I can't say how many email reminders I received that items were left in my cart while I was deciding, lol, but the process took me about a week. Once I got serious with the cart, I set a goal to have the final decisions ready for Black Friday. Sure enough, I received 20% off at Fat Quarter Shop, plus loads of other goodies. We'll save those for a rainy day though, this post is all about the Kona...<br />
<br />

Butterscotch, Bright Periwinkle, Regal, and I picked up four yards of the silver (thanks Libby!). Still need to add some black..<br />
<br />
Next,<br />
My Mariner's palette! This one was harder and perhaps not finalized.<br />
I like the white better than the silver in this bundle. Otherwise, the two quilts are sharing gray's: Titanium, Graphite, and Steel.<br />

I ordered several blues just to see them before really deciding on Midnight and Nightfall.<br />
Ultramarine is my final 'teal'.<br />
<br />
Only three fabrics were culled once I had them in my hands. The blue and yellow uniform, "alt 1", (are they even wearing it I wonder?) A bit of creamed corn might make a good pop, so I will consider it later, but Sunny is not a fit for me. <br />
I really wanted to see Celestial. It is pretty. <br />

The royal there is extra-wide. I was curious if the weight was the same as 44w, and it is..<br />
It will work well with my Sphere leftovers I think..<br />
Two yards of excess is not bad for online shopping I think, but I can see the color card paying for itself if I become a full-on Kona nerd!<br />
<br />
I love Fat Quarter Shop, lol, they actually answered their phone the morning of Black Friday and patiently helped me with a gift code. I realized my mistake after we spoke, I was entering incorrectly, but how amazing to have helped me as if nothing was of more importance.<br />
<br />
I am off for a bit of ISpy quilting this afternoon, I hope you find some quilty time too@!Heidihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00546043492549930952noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1650441766408409956.post-49142929055348534792016-12-06T07:42:00.000-08:002016-12-06T07:47:40.704-08:00OMG: A Goal for December!Hello, Hello!<br />
my my my, how time is slipping by, lol.<br />
Don't panic, but yes, we can almost count the hours until the deadline to ship packages for Christmas.<br />
<br />
I have kind of stalled here, but with<b> </b>only<b> one day left </b>to link up with One Monthly Goal,<br />
I have finally decided my December goal is within reason and I can put it in writing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj9KbxkL6cPF5tMBFIqN7MqHJFsl_NyocpkMqzg_iXZu0NiPnaawZV0SBF1q09OLCL3hokWNe2nMeOmG-IWnNQJbwNIyNyYuQ6o0YMAAFWlE2srx_7nZNOD8ZrMOeu1rI6qLO0tX9hUzQ/s1600/OMG+Dec.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj9KbxkL6cPF5tMBFIqN7MqHJFsl_NyocpkMqzg_iXZu0NiPnaawZV0SBF1q09OLCL3hokWNe2nMeOmG-IWnNQJbwNIyNyYuQ6o0YMAAFWlE2srx_7nZNOD8ZrMOeu1rI6qLO0tX9hUzQ/s320/OMG+Dec.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<b>I really want this I-Spy quilt under my friend's tree come Christmas morning.</b> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOuEy8OIrxqNoj_UTUBwpzLiuIVEEERpqZaHnUyoUN0KIIEPNrZhrYuHWEO1xahVMrZeqf7JcKLj19AxNsbJKGsKaemSLji3hTyNm7EvTaFkXT7BQh94PjlYiUJU56k49rjjLXBaFdFDw/s1600/ispy+at+playground.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOuEy8OIrxqNoj_UTUBwpzLiuIVEEERpqZaHnUyoUN0KIIEPNrZhrYuHWEO1xahVMrZeqf7JcKLj19AxNsbJKGsKaemSLji3hTyNm7EvTaFkXT7BQh94PjlYiUJU56k49rjjLXBaFdFDw/s640/ispy+at+playground.jpg" width="486" /></a></div>
The quilting is more than halfway finished, and I need to select/cut/attach binding. At least I already have the label on this time, lol! When I share the finish, I will finally reveal the backing as well!<br />
<div align="center">
<a href="http://www.elmstreetquilts.com/p/omg-one-monthly-goal.html" rel="nofollow" title="Elm Street Quilts"><img alt="Elm Street Quilts" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6i7QUYEv7R0dSj_OLy60_9VHNNNbUCZW8AJW_M7u1LtapjEbfr83s_4Sk_gGRz3qVAsARp6S82pTxRvszIamuQVETWTS-W5au0yzADTfFiwXf4I5UVs1bFG8iHDE_bb8vUZL0UD_AbJI/s1600/ESQ+OMG+Button5.png" style="border: none;" /></a></div>
<br />
So, that is what I am working on, as well as other gifts. We are making jerky this year, and I'll be concocting a few lotions. <br />
<br />
<b><i>I'm a winner? say what?</i></b><br />
What a surprise, and a thrill, to win the $25 gift certificate to Fat Quarter Shop last month! They really are my favorite quilt shop and I am so grateful for their ongoing support of the cyber-community. Soon, I will share pictures of the Kona-goodness I selected!

It brought me through the election, the constitutional block near the bottom-right..<br />
One of these is from the kitchen curtain fabric I used in 1985, lol... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggizFYBpyE9aK0n1x9r1GMcsIKAG-s8ULJc6eZwh-QwZwnk1iqZh-44gWihVre1zZ8Xpe3lXp6MnJDzcGyw24UtXVGQ4-gMOlUQbK1BguwH6WhjwDp0Tuk-TUmFUc5jcCosCmLHxMEjXU/s1600/Panel+12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggizFYBpyE9aK0n1x9r1GMcsIKAG-s8ULJc6eZwh-QwZwnk1iqZh-44gWihVre1zZ8Xpe3lXp6MnJDzcGyw24UtXVGQ4-gMOlUQbK1BguwH6WhjwDp0Tuk-TUmFUc5jcCosCmLHxMEjXU/s640/Panel+12.jpg" width="448" /></a></div>
Oh, those Eighties,<br />
Here is my memory still stored on a shelf:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3t-xcV0PJ0LeKqBhxe83SEDnhvDbMC3Wp-SldeOkQelTEkVFUDFZERzzLJTKVFVDC0E0qsXgbqFoH1qtwKZMWsBtjIiqDMRivG7llwLmsIXrKh2Cl3S952l3WgyXnEBgtO5fkwC6bE_Q/s1600/IMG_8509.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3t-xcV0PJ0LeKqBhxe83SEDnhvDbMC3Wp-SldeOkQelTEkVFUDFZERzzLJTKVFVDC0E0qsXgbqFoH1qtwKZMWsBtjIiqDMRivG7llwLmsIXrKh2Cl3S952l3WgyXnEBgtO5fkwC6bE_Q/s640/IMG_8509.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I am still really enjoying the fabric selection process, finding things to represent daily life events.<br />
41 more dots are required to complete my 366 blocks, and I will use those as border blocks. I have about 20 half-assembled, so I am only a bit behind:) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I have stalled completely with the big-stitch quilting though, stuck on Panel #11, right here with RSC-inspired Roses. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7P5MA2CoXwNY66kD3NDbemtS6uZP1RgXnyyu-VfmsDgteGPGJNu0M004bmJQnFY5nYbKHRYoxvSXZHuhJpden1Yb4ftb7Wbg_R-yiASDfZBCUJA7YIYtic9KrlALDVkWeopESvgcJIWs/s1600/Rose+RSC.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7P5MA2CoXwNY66kD3NDbemtS6uZP1RgXnyyu-VfmsDgteGPGJNu0M004bmJQnFY5nYbKHRYoxvSXZHuhJpden1Yb4ftb7Wbg_R-yiASDfZBCUJA7YIYtic9KrlALDVkWeopESvgcJIWs/s640/Rose+RSC.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The last circle I quilted was here under one of the debate nights,<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnd2NmjBt0g6rniFtJFiP3U6L-Koz8G-HerTyJOzl5TBGN45zm0FkqMS1mA-heP3FxQmF4RapEHeozV5XKBf02LF6pkvpbBsMHfu0OjG-eBO0mCYhm0VYCB84cpn-aovTqaPSrKFx3TB8/s1600/debate.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnd2NmjBt0g6rniFtJFiP3U6L-Koz8G-HerTyJOzl5TBGN45zm0FkqMS1mA-heP3FxQmF4RapEHeozV5XKBf02LF6pkvpbBsMHfu0OjG-eBO0mCYhm0VYCB84cpn-aovTqaPSrKFx3TB8/s640/debate.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I have been sewing in short intervals. A little of this, and a little of that. I try to do a couple lines of quilting on my I-Spy quilt each day,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3BZAn0sFk1nPogYejisrJKDuINVNMpDYK7HksGVTtuHK_-z9tdOwzObDpR_iIGg0fwC6wOWVVazhitHgXXDKhHvVWFPxhs76_iN1Ksp_lnWnMI3TP8nmIZHxG7H_dPYHszi3kWmpD_pw/s1600/IMG_8497.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3BZAn0sFk1nPogYejisrJKDuINVNMpDYK7HksGVTtuHK_-z9tdOwzObDpR_iIGg0fwC6wOWVVazhitHgXXDKhHvVWFPxhs76_iN1Ksp_lnWnMI3TP8nmIZHxG7H_dPYHszi3kWmpD_pw/s640/IMG_8497.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
And I trim a few of these Quilty365 centers now and then:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOzE4JT6JIFBFymkV6FqjPlggwWBhUbJ9ktAiAWH_PAXbseJVCAQMDtgyddOBW33aFf-CCDvrwa3fES_hYi0Ujcr4XcftMaPPcZdtFtfPaG-g0N-6jrDmU82K2afLJCLQlOZF0gzmH9FA/s1600/martelli.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOzE4JT6JIFBFymkV6FqjPlggwWBhUbJ9ktAiAWH_PAXbseJVCAQMDtgyddOBW33aFf-CCDvrwa3fES_hYi0Ujcr4XcftMaPPcZdtFtfPaG-g0N-6jrDmU82K2afLJCLQlOZF0gzmH9FA/s640/martelli.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I do really like having the Martelli cutter, it switches the pressure points being stressed. The clasp is awkward, but I am getting used to it. Also, it is harder to keep clean since the lint gathers under the protective plastic, then suddenly poops a greasy pile on my precious.<br />
I keep a Q-Tip nearby to catch those before they release.<br />
<br />
Really, I have to avoid cutting though, and that means I've set aside my Kite Tails blocks. I will make one more soon, but for now all 23 are piled in their box. I have been referring to the project as BYOT; Bring Your Own Toppings.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRYdFM3My8Dn1NWuu3NHluTHwH0QjJ0pMb0rL4yUrr21RXp30Igic4Qsz8_OiS9FC94xr22PKb3BTYK9MtPUsP8jyKCwNR6e6_Z5ga8_N7tByhzxr6N0Vd7yiPkQjAtTDGGqolP0QupJo/s1600/kite+tail+pizza.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRYdFM3My8Dn1NWuu3NHluTHwH0QjJ0pMb0rL4yUrr21RXp30Igic4Qsz8_OiS9FC94xr22PKb3BTYK9MtPUsP8jyKCwNR6e6_Z5ga8_N7tByhzxr6N0Vd7yiPkQjAtTDGGqolP0QupJo/s640/kite+tail+pizza.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
These are indoor cell-shots, but to give you an idea of the whole! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I snapped a photo of some really good books I have been spending time with lately:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxH1Yh7Nznpbzvyt9TzZ-JdAXZgCp9QqHE8YDqOGr5LANa29Umyafc0G7t88-2gtapAXFIvHTsktJn6jakoAQ4EtWyx7FrXJg1g13zzikNNwdPdgttsDqP460xTbmqXi_-R04yrgjlxXI/s1600/IMG_8508.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxH1Yh7Nznpbzvyt9TzZ-JdAXZgCp9QqHE8YDqOGr5LANa29Umyafc0G7t88-2gtapAXFIvHTsktJn6jakoAQ4EtWyx7FrXJg1g13zzikNNwdPdgttsDqP460xTbmqXi_-R04yrgjlxXI/s640/IMG_8508.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
The top book was a gift from my sister a couple years ago, I highly recommend it. It is so informative, and can tell you how to deal with any odd-looking veggie you may be tempted to bring home from market, or new-to-you fruit your neighbor leaves at your doorstep. It seems to cover everything. I recently roasted green chili's, and yellow ones too, for the freezer. Those have prompted me to pull my Sante Fe cookbook.<br />
<br />
Last week I made <strike>potion</strike> lotion, prompted by those two books in the middle.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I didn't have enough almond oil and opted for some olive oil mixed in. The almond oil is less greasy, but olive is good for dry skin and I did not want to use my yummy coconut oil since I am almost out of granola. Next, I selected these three essential oils from their descriptions in the books:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibbKTpRSCBmaMcy1F1j7wfJIUDq7dl257vJy-V6l5XzY13GbLtmmaBFvXr20_7Eg_2lf7wFv4WDr_Y_Nprlv7wzSbyGHZqx7xkB5zLNpyyBJQJAM9rbdEFZvJ9cUFD_g3oFxv4iy77T1M/s1600/IMG_8505.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="482" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibbKTpRSCBmaMcy1F1j7wfJIUDq7dl257vJy-V6l5XzY13GbLtmmaBFvXr20_7Eg_2lf7wFv4WDr_Y_Nprlv7wzSbyGHZqx7xkB5zLNpyyBJQJAM9rbdEFZvJ9cUFD_g3oFxv4iy77T1M/s640/IMG_8505.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
It was all pretty easy to do. I followed directions in the 2nd book, on library loan, to heat the oil, melting the beeswax, then emulsify with water. I really like the lotion, so I thought I would share this! <br />
<br />
Thank you for catching up with me today, I am looking forward to seeing what everyone is up to!<br />

One Monthly Goal has moved locations! <br />
The new home is with Patty, at Elm Street Quilts!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Click the new button to check out the Welcome Page! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<i> Isn't it cute?</i></div>
<i>So...</i><br />
This means I get to link-up with a goal of my own, at the <a href="http://www.elmstreetquilts.com/2016/11/one-monthly-goal-november-goal-setting.html" target="_blank">November Linkup!</a><br />
I aim to piece & sandwich this panel (#12) for
my Daily Dot quilt. I am using QAYG method for the QAL hosted by Audrey at <a href="http://quiltyfolk.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Quilty Folk</a>. These dots
represent September 16th - October 20th, so I am a bit behind. I am due
to stitch block #366 on November 29th. <br />

I hope you will join me over at Patty's place for monthly goal-setting!<br />
<a href="http://www.cottoncuts.com/" target="_blank">Cotton Cuts</a> has generously offered a one month subscription, fabric bundle!<br />

<i>ooo-la-la!</i></div>
Thank you all for your wonderful comments! I am still very limited with computer use and I regret that I will remain a "no-reply-to-your-comment-blogger" for awhile longer. Meanwhile, I ordered the Martelli Ergo Cutter as a way to change up muscle-use when I am cutting future quilts.<br />
I can hardly wait to see how she handles.<br />
Has anyone tried it?<br />

<span style="font-weight: normal;"><i>Beautiful, right?</i><br />First of all, the packaging was top of the line! I appreciate a well-packaged bundle, and the inner box will find a secondary use in my home.</span><br />
<h3>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"></span></h3>
This is top-quality fabric, and they did a great job customizing for me. A couple may not be selections I would have made, however I think another <i>advantage</i> of this service may be occasionally receiving a print that pushes beyond your comfort one!<br />

<i>I wonder what is in store for these lovelies?</i><br />
So, how about the Value? I received three total yards, plus the added patterns; a BOM and a mini. Also included, as this month's bonus, a useful zip-charm:)<br />
I think Yes, a very nice value nice value, and especially for those looking to build stash!<br />

Now more than ever, I need to see <i>your</i> finishes, so that I may live vicariously!<br />
I <i>have</i> managed to stitch a few rays of sunshine this month.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQXsioM_G1bhC4cDvAiF6_s28BTJ6wDZ2dpYXhLiLvXDdXvPBjEeOPXgYAYWRn-p0jp42gN1UIuIW7SAMd8qqHKwVw66bbIpuxDgxC3FPT0q0Cg5A4D-2aUNmILjPBtaAFEK_vCyUUtkw/s1600/Kite+Tails+Quilt+Block+Lemon.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQXsioM_G1bhC4cDvAiF6_s28BTJ6wDZ2dpYXhLiLvXDdXvPBjEeOPXgYAYWRn-p0jp42gN1UIuIW7SAMd8qqHKwVw66bbIpuxDgxC3FPT0q0Cg5A4D-2aUNmILjPBtaAFEK_vCyUUtkw/s400/Kite+Tails+Quilt+Block+Lemon.jpg" width="396" /></a></div>
Usually, I make two Kite Tail blocks each month, for <a href="http://superscrappy.blogspot.com/p/rsc16.html" target="_blank">Rainbow Scrap Challenge.</a> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJfmMGhyphenhyphenTCSrDGKPzYlWtMMXXn-vb_X-FR6tMnJyFvrJYl25AhKF1sLSecrCKBZF0wwmEV8myi2_MrxTnqdX4L94ZVGWFW0hVp6i9ptwEAppBop1MncAvKPib5X5BFudhnVYv9Y_uOhyI/s1600/kite+tails+Sunrise.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJfmMGhyphenhyphenTCSrDGKPzYlWtMMXXn-vb_X-FR6tMnJyFvrJYl25AhKF1sLSecrCKBZF0wwmEV8myi2_MrxTnqdX4L94ZVGWFW0hVp6i9ptwEAppBop1MncAvKPib5X5BFudhnVYv9Y_uOhyI/s400/kite+tails+Sunrise.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I need extras though, to total 24 blocks. So this month I made a third, with the yellow and orange colorway for October RSC. <br />

These blocks require a lot of cutting and apparently this third block was just one too many for me. The day after I pressed and trimmed my strips for the 'extra' one, my wrists swelled and gave me grief like never before. I am still unable to cut, and only very limited computer time. I have managed to stitch the third block together, in five minute increments, over the past two weeks.<br />
<br />
Hopefully, I can figure the exact cause of this soon, but for now I hope you understand if I seem quite anti-social! I regret that I will not be able to reply to comments until I am comfortable once again on the PC. I will be able to read your posts, and want you to know I am cheering for you, <b>and</b> that I am so very appreciative of your participation!<br />

How Bat That?<br />
I finished my mini with three hours remaining to write this post and catch the party! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivyd8zcxpo3YTq8OvN5w57bcZ_Ke_aFUuB7xaVK9GPAR59fKSYLUQGWOBMiKqH7c1A2dU3aX-sOK8ZcBGZcKkGLQYX6M9iVXpLewVZFfYUf7k6kNIMlWaLHS-pp1eMdX7zHi-xwew_yZw/s1600/HH.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivyd8zcxpo3YTq8OvN5w57bcZ_Ke_aFUuB7xaVK9GPAR59fKSYLUQGWOBMiKqH7c1A2dU3aX-sOK8ZcBGZcKkGLQYX6M9iVXpLewVZFfYUf7k6kNIMlWaLHS-pp1eMdX7zHi-xwew_yZw/s1600/HH.png" /></a></div>
I appliqued this fun piece for <a href="http://redletterquilts.blogspot.com/2016/05/crafted-applique-new-possibilities.html" target="_blank">The Crafted Applique Bloghop</a>, back in May!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It finished right around 20".<br />
I chose an easy-peasy finishing method:<br />
After quilting with a muslin backing, pulling threads to the back and tying them, I cut a new backing, black, 1" larger than the quilt.<br />
Next, I stitched them (right-sides) together, but only along two opposite edges.<br />
Turned it right side out and pinned the unfinished ends over.<br />
Finally, I top-stitch all the way around.<br />
Perhaps crude, but it sure makes a nice finish for a table mat!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXSYSazvgfL1n8cZA-feciMeG4Q_KIIvIfx3OtGRfr9rMF_UXHeth9osxyxMO2xcY3NrgmVaQQsr2USW3-mw0tJCal22nPQ1yEiQ_8c3ZytSiY2FHgHgvPJx98UTE7Ai-291gfonriVc8/s1600/Halloween+Mini.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXSYSazvgfL1n8cZA-feciMeG4Q_KIIvIfx3OtGRfr9rMF_UXHeth9osxyxMO2xcY3NrgmVaQQsr2USW3-mw0tJCal22nPQ1yEiQ_8c3ZytSiY2FHgHgvPJx98UTE7Ai-291gfonriVc8/s640/Halloween+Mini.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Variegated purple thread from Superior, a 40wt from old stash, plus wool batting.<br />
My funky quilting really stands out!<br />

This is one block from the Carolyn Lynch pattern, "Something
Wicked This Way Comes". All of the blocks can be seen at Carolyn's website, <a href="http://www.articlesofmeritnotlisted.com/" target="_blank">Articles of Merit Not Listed</a>.<br />
<br />
I found the single-block pattern, titled "The Bat in the Moonlight", published in QNM, OCT 98 issue. <br />

I'm going to move this post right along, to get the party started without further delay!<br />
Short and sweet, perhaps, but I do have an October goal:<br />
<br />
I hope to finish the ISpy Quilt that has been sandwiched for a week or so now. Foregoing the OMG rules, I am not going to share a photo of the goal. Also assuming you have all seen enough of it until the finish. There'll be no I-Spy overkill coming from this-away...<br />
<br />
So as not to disappoint, I do have one pretty photo to share!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the bundle I put together for the OMG, October prize-pool!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiirrmsB17TESgORDpgAO9MtTOVIyOFuygcLp4DvMWlCcHRjdSk_8gE3yBPu_MaUegKLV6Epayv0qSvWqRbf5t5WX2TDtfbEmp5Hw1t4369_n6O_Gy4sjBCrU_i1x7fM-vT1w_Q7Ea7T_Q/s1600/Oct+giveaway.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiirrmsB17TESgORDpgAO9MtTOVIyOFuygcLp4DvMWlCcHRjdSk_8gE3yBPu_MaUegKLV6Epayv0qSvWqRbf5t5WX2TDtfbEmp5Hw1t4369_n6O_Gy4sjBCrU_i1x7fM-vT1w_Q7Ea7T_Q/s400/Oct+giveaway.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I am sharing two spools from the Aurifil 'Simply Color' set I recently won at <a href="https://frommycarolinahome.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">From my Carolina Home</a>. Holding the spools for inspiration, I selected a few stash fabrics to make a little (FQ)baby-bundle. Babies on the brain, who knows..<br />
The winner will have fun with the nursery print humor, it is quite different than norm, and a bit of a hoot.<br />

Destination: Unknown.<br />
These are the Hometown Houses appearing on my design wall.<br />

Lots of Seahawk MOJO, <br />
The blue backgrounds will be infront of the lake/canal, houseboats atop it, and the sky is white. The "bluest skies you've ever seen" may be in Seattle, but somehow this sky is white. It's called, umm, lack of planning, and it will make the Needle more challenging.<br />
Work with me here, I've been improvisationally piecing Century Link Stadium: <br />

hopefully that needle is in the future, a mountain or two, definitely more trees...<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Meanwhile,</span> I've been struggling with Kona at the Fat Quarter Shop, and it occurred to me... <br />
I must know one or two <strike>Kona-nerds</strike> friends who would <b>enjoy</b> this color-matching thing... <br />
<i><span style="font-size: large;">Could it be true?</span></i><br />
<br />
Two quilts are formulating in my brain, each similar in pattern and size, each for a nephew. I want to keep an adult-looking palette, yet stick with the specific team colors for each.<br />
My sketch is a modern, elongated herringbone.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Nephew #1:</b></span> Ted graduated from Seattle University this year and is pitching for the Seattle Mariner's in Arizona. Here is their uniform, sourced from WikiCommons. <br />

<i><u>Questions for Kona Cotton Nerds</u>:</i><br />
<i>1. What is your favorite white, and favorite black? I will probably use silver with a medium gray too, but not sure which ones play best with the silver.</i><br />
<i>2. Which of the teal green colors do you think best matches the team uniform? To me, the Emerald looks the most like teal, while the teal looks the most green. I also have Everglade, Glacier, Jade. Are the colors on the FQS website accurate/jive with the kona card?</i><br />
<i>3. It looks like there are several blues being used, maybe I should bring a navy in, but which blue best matches I wonder, the colors seem to change with the photos. </i><br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Nephew #2: </span></b>entered University of Washington this week. I fill with emotion when I talk of these guys, something I avoid since it feels like bragging. Both earned full scholarships, this one academically, and including his Master's program. Little Ty is a Husky now.<br />

Purple: Bright Periwinkle, Purple, Hibiscus and REGAL<br />

I am ON it, right? I want to make six bags this year and there is no time to lose; the <a href="http://www.elmstreetquilts.com/p/bag-it-entry-page.html" target="_blank">linkup at Elm Street Quilts</a> closes in only 83 days!<br />
<br />
I began with a pretty batik sunflower, part of a bundle I won from Mary, at <a href="https://mary-quiltingrandma.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Quilting Grandma Designs</a>.<br />
Can you guess what I have stashed inside those pockets?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My dimensions vary a bit from <a href="https://frommycarolinahome.wordpress.com/2016/07/14/christmas-in-july-sewing-kit-tutorial-aurifil-giveaway-and-blog-hop/" target="_blank">the tutorial</a> that I used, offered by Carole of From My Carolina Home. I won a gorgeous box of Aurifil Threads from Carole recently. The brightly-colored spools inspired me to pull special fabrics, and piece the inside pockets. It'll be a cheerful burst of color every time this pouch is opened!<br />
For the circles, I ironed freezer paper templates right on the fabric. Easier to rotary cut the fabric that way, and I can re-use them when I make another.<br />
This bag is destined for my SIL. It has a similar style as the jewelry roll I made for her last year, the one on the right with similar bell-style, metal cord stops.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I picked them up at a local bead shop. They fit snuggly and I really like the finish!<br />

Inspired by the darkening sky last night, and my sleepy mindset, I selected the fabrics for my collection, placing each one in my virtual cart until I had a good-sized balance due(cha-ching!), then narrowing it all down to these nine lovely fabrics: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWc1J3kmHqPew1CFUxTAIIgpILYAuN09QGJe6iTjGaAuy78N9-WuA9rK6ULZ2NlRsN9-kjgm8YawIL8-mxAD91RRqZuCHsYtcpsKIJxyD76FdHYpIGUzBrhLa5nB0qXTYaxVxgm1x71Qs/s1600/Desert+Twilight.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWc1J3kmHqPew1CFUxTAIIgpILYAuN09QGJe6iTjGaAuy78N9-WuA9rK6ULZ2NlRsN9-kjgm8YawIL8-mxAD91RRqZuCHsYtcpsKIJxyD76FdHYpIGUzBrhLa5nB0qXTYaxVxgm1x71Qs/s640/Desert+Twilight.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
"Desert Dreamer" captures luminous dark clouds, setting sun filtering
through the mountains, and the low twinkle of The Las Vegas Strip from
my home. I really love this pull, and the process of selecting fabrics from <a href="http://www.larkcottons.com/index.php?route=common/home" target="_blank">Lark Cottons</a> is quite dreamy in itself. I may have to go back and create another before the voting starts!<br />

<br />
With only hours left to link up with the Quilty Orphan Adoption event at Quilting is More Fun Than Housework,<br />
I have selected my Sew Kitschy blocks this time around! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn0bCxuVJtlrrzxWXef67YVhNBpwp0xJj_t2e7DykROT_V4TaZrvMHjzr2zxc4p0eigqqhaI3mEqnOdslGE0HgISDlxy0-iFiZGCxWGxiNZdJT0nm716vwGSNIcWvU_S_T4-1VQ0karFo/s1600/six+blocks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="432" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn0bCxuVJtlrrzxWXef67YVhNBpwp0xJj_t2e7DykROT_V4TaZrvMHjzr2zxc4p0eigqqhaI3mEqnOdslGE0HgISDlxy0-iFiZGCxWGxiNZdJT0nm716vwGSNIcWvU_S_T4-1VQ0karFo/s640/six+blocks.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="color: blue;"><b>I think the radio would make a great tote bag!</b></span></i> </div>
There are six completed blocks, patterns, and some fabric scraps to help
tie things together if you want to make the three remaining blocks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5cDlMR1WvygTPsk5CAms9ofEuzQ1el98HzzQP-FfkwxuBP5ok1XQ1OvHU5wBXIqibGgmSYlH_B4WmotIkm5pCXjvUJJKuIULh-wL_LG_EW6WLHwP9Yd_wNnZOe2crDYb7nTmxW4rAp-E/s1600/pattern.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5cDlMR1WvygTPsk5CAms9ofEuzQ1el98HzzQP-FfkwxuBP5ok1XQ1OvHU5wBXIqibGgmSYlH_B4WmotIkm5pCXjvUJJKuIULh-wL_LG_EW6WLHwP9Yd_wNnZOe2crDYb7nTmxW4rAp-E/s400/pattern.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
This is so free-ing!<br />
<br />
I hopped on the Sew Kitschy Quilt Along in 2013, to gain some paper-piecing skills. <a href="http://quietplay.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Kristy, at Quiet Play</a>, has wonderful patterns and her QAL's are irresistible! My grandfather's cabin in Canada remained in my mind as I selected fabrics for these blocks. The oranges and greens were all about the kitchen. Well, it was all-about many homes back in the 70's, but the cabin was my inspiration. We had a set of these I recall..<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2_-aqw4IgReIea94FP4Y0Im4O94M_JvBai1cb4d4t9HGbNJr5le8CRyB61wdzB7p7rupb1G1zJeqy-buaIDRDVsBrJAWP0X5puDzdzsysSgI87ZDZmKEzAffhmR_9dt19i-TU4GkC49A/s1600/aaaaa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="274" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2_-aqw4IgReIea94FP4Y0Im4O94M_JvBai1cb4d4t9HGbNJr5le8CRyB61wdzB7p7rupb1G1zJeqy-buaIDRDVsBrJAWP0X5puDzdzsysSgI87ZDZmKEzAffhmR_9dt19i-TU4GkC49A/s320/aaaaa.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Some of the fabrics are from my vintage stash and very lightweight. Fine for a wallhanging I think, but so you are aware.<b> I am keeping</b> my top-fave block to make something for my own kitchen, <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVh_rqkrUU_OQGITa52D_oq6khqkMt-sMIaSE6Qc3BK_4PJAbJ9ZZ6442L97eu4-Q1BhZpkIeK1xfR32rRjxrJ34FnMPAJWtLFg8dqty5jjLdcaEFpz1UjoDYCQTbiUAhxO5byDVEWAek/s1600/1e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="397" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVh_rqkrUU_OQGITa52D_oq6khqkMt-sMIaSE6Qc3BK_4PJAbJ9ZZ6442L97eu4-Q1BhZpkIeK1xfR32rRjxrJ34FnMPAJWtLFg8dqty5jjLdcaEFpz1UjoDYCQTbiUAhxO5byDVEWAek/s400/1e.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
The mixer <i>pattern</i> is included though, as for the two blocks I did not finish. I altered the teapot pattern in an attempt to create Grandpa's percolator, but regret that the top is not darker. So, most of the patterns are included and a few bits of fabric, including a half a yard or so of the Mumm teapot fabric I was planning to use with the backing.<br />
<span style="color: blue;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="color: blue;"><b>Random Drawing will be in one week, Sunday morning, Sept 25th, to select the recipient. I have NO rules or preference regarding what you plan to do with the blocks, but you must provide a US address for free shipping! Just leave a comment on this post to let me know you would like to be included in the drawing!</b></span><br />
<br />

Cute! They changed it up with a windmill pattern. This event is a triple-win!<br />

<br />
And my Baby Courthouse block for August turned out kind of cute!<br />

<i>Sooo</i>,,, <br />
this is my 300th blog post! I knew it was coming, but I did not prepare a proper celebration. My bad!<br />
I sure wish I could invite ya'll over to celebrate. <br />

I enjoy the social side of blogging SO much, and feel fortunate to meet quilter's who live all over the world, right from the comfort of my home. 300 posts is a lot of writing for someone who does not actually enjoy writing! Sometimes I wonder how many more quilts I could finish per year if I did not blog (a reoccurring thought, generally right before a post is due). I always come to the same conclusion once I've thought it over: The rewards of documentation, conversations, laughter, and resourceful friendships are <u>well</u> worth the time spent. Although I've had to cut it back this year and have not been able to participate in hops, giveaways, or QAL's much, I am considering some options for One Monthly Goal in 2017 to improve all that. For now, my sincere appreciation will keep you all at bay!<br />
<br />
For the friendships, encouragement, kudos, and virtual hugs, I sincerely want to <span style="font-size: large;">Thank You!</span><br />
<br />
I will be back with another update <span style="font-size: large;">soon</span> so I can share the house blocks I have been working on!<br />

I hope yours was good like mine!
I am back at my PC this morning, and ready to announce the winners from our August OMG Linkup!<br />
<br />
Because I am not able to blog as often as I would like, I am including a quick status report this morning as well, for <a href="http://quiltyfolk.blogspot.com/2016/09/september-quilty-365-linkup.html" target="_blank">Quilty365</a>:<br />
Today, I am beginning the <b>count down: </b><br />
<b>84 days left!</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqFxuIXO_DFhyOLhD_HHXnnhBVfMvabU7Ks9OuqB22j9P59ougv3I8Rb-uq3qUsxcjz4FR9PbGcfHQUH2mdPbM196Vd4LubmMR8ehhh0msxjJQ6x41T2WlFdUUx6PS_g05QeALNJCceMs/s1600/SEpt1-4+dots.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="598" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqFxuIXO_DFhyOLhD_HHXnnhBVfMvabU7Ks9OuqB22j9P59ougv3I8Rb-uq3qUsxcjz4FR9PbGcfHQUH2mdPbM196Vd4LubmMR8ehhh0msxjJQ6x41T2WlFdUUx6PS_g05QeALNJCceMs/s640/SEpt1-4+dots.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
These are my first four dots for September. Roses in red, pink, gold, to kick off RSC September. The S&K to remember a lovely visit this weekend, from friends we have not seen in 10+ years, who live in Mexico now! Days 278, 279, 280, and 281. These will go about halfway into Panel #11.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, I am slowly making progress with the hand-quilting on Panel #8. I like to select colors and thread about six needles at a time.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Welcome to September Goal-Setting! If you are new to the linkup, please visit the OMG page to learn more about <a href="http://redletterquilts.blogspot.com/p/omg.html" target="_blank">One Monthly Goal</a>.<br />
<br />
After a bit of struggle with my decision, my goal this month is to complete the backing and sandwich the I-Spy quilt top I finished last month, as my August goal. I find I am most successful with monthly goals when I select one in which decisions are already made, <i>however</i>, this is spread out on my <b>design floor</b>, making it difficult to walk about.<br />
I am not sure where I am going with this yet, but I will use the four
leftover blocks and go from there, with one or more of the fabrics you
see strewn about. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbYDeO5coflM2GI_F0-QFIxg828j5Xn7lkSbMzJF1EmDD8KsEFgKulRAq9y74MxIwIut-FGqkeH3WhAzMV1owafwhKsBeS_iNOOCe19j7SNd07Z0CX1BBfbwFI2trb-MfwNRa8QOvpY1U/s1600/sept+goal+ispy+backing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbYDeO5coflM2GI_F0-QFIxg828j5Xn7lkSbMzJF1EmDD8KsEFgKulRAq9y74MxIwIut-FGqkeH3WhAzMV1owafwhKsBeS_iNOOCe19j7SNd07Z0CX1BBfbwFI2trb-MfwNRa8QOvpY1U/s640/sept+goal+ispy+backing.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I try to avoid taking pictures in my sewing room, they are always dark, shadowy, and blurry.<br />
This morning, the sun is streaming in to my happy place, making pictures more doable. Still not clear, but I think of them as snapshots. A little glimpse of daily life, <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAr4RQd_gLIreGbLpBPCSCTrdkF02mRsaaXV13SflZ-kSQ8IlfPi1vRN54KyIshnqiUjUfS3A2BrgXRY-YMa0WnvJPepjtgWN4sR_7k07jbcvWCMP3c7TcrsxxGhgM3ObbWX02oDgE4M/s1600/Seattle+on+Design+Wall.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAr4RQd_gLIreGbLpBPCSCTrdkF02mRsaaXV13SflZ-kSQ8IlfPi1vRN54KyIshnqiUjUfS3A2BrgXRY-YMa0WnvJPepjtgWN4sR_7k07jbcvWCMP3c7TcrsxxGhgM3ObbWX02oDgE4M/s640/Seattle+on+Design+Wall.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
It would be easy enough to clear my design wall right now since I haven't had time to work on my Seattle quilt, but I don't want to pack it up quite yet. I will need the space again soon for my Quilty365 blocks too, in process there on the ironing board.<br />
<br />
With all the I-Spy going on in my home lately, I decided to cut a charm pack to contribute to the September Prize-pool. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGd7mtnGOdam-V8uBSl6eFVEr_E_nPgK-xDP5cah772nR2qt_hmqcej8B_JvdrWUD9Jdud5fppzjPRrul1M6YFOxc3zMd_B1NEKcIdPMOgNX5eghWCxJGfHSpRRy0yfmd4x41LdTgQp10/s1600/Sept+giveaway+ispy+charms.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGd7mtnGOdam-V8uBSl6eFVEr_E_nPgK-xDP5cah772nR2qt_hmqcej8B_JvdrWUD9Jdud5fppzjPRrul1M6YFOxc3zMd_B1NEKcIdPMOgNX5eghWCxJGfHSpRRy0yfmd4x41LdTgQp10/s640/Sept+giveaway+ispy+charms.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
I'll have 50 of my favorite quilt-shop novelties by the end of the month, cut into 4" squares for you to begin work on your own I-Spy! Just another project I figure everyone must need, hehe.<br />
<br />
OK, Cheers to a productive September! Let's <b>DO</b> this thing!<br />

<br />
I reached my goal by finishing the I-Spy flimsy, <b>and</b> getting photographs to post! I feel like this is a double-win.<br />
Quick stop at the park ...<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
A little masking tape to hold her up, and.. </div>

<b>Ta-Da!</b></div>

The charm's are from <a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/3019076@N22/pool/with/27110517280/" target="_blank">Val's I-Spy Swap</a>, held this summer. Plus, I cut oodles of my own 4" squares to increase the finish size to 52" x 63". Hopefully I will quilt this in time for Christmas to gift to my best friend, whose six children I have watched grow-up. Terri is blessed with two grandbabies so far, and they spend a lot of time with her. This quilt is meant to live at her house, for all her future babes to enjoy. I sneaked in a few that their adults will enjoy too. Everyone in Washington State is a Seahawk fan..<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYq0RmDueEwZ7W3-8TT6pVjsDJbeh1WCAA16TG0bsAKdpJxabPgcRB6_CwUCob4vKxXFkXYYsbNBMRYTmrMcReqP6AHH9h_1nlQP2Jp5-3mf5KkkvjQXvlb6B53fJSAqSg0bQXc5_xhFk/s1600/IMG_7190.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYq0RmDueEwZ7W3-8TT6pVjsDJbeh1WCAA16TG0bsAKdpJxabPgcRB6_CwUCob4vKxXFkXYYsbNBMRYTmrMcReqP6AHH9h_1nlQP2Jp5-3mf5KkkvjQXvlb6B53fJSAqSg0bQXc5_xhFk/s640/IMG_7190.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
And we all know what else they do up there in Washington..<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2P5sgPQpefciOWW1VsKq9jZNXuTlOqoSKgzaINWOMqaBvZw5AqcoxZooos-e5L7pomByj3w-r3xE6_cn61wqCy_xQ_EwITzJhG3AOgUxMgpFGyDx5aC7E4qzGn4nYVUYPVOo8_aBRsjw/s1600/IMG_7197.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2P5sgPQpefciOWW1VsKq9jZNXuTlOqoSKgzaINWOMqaBvZw5AqcoxZooos-e5L7pomByj3w-r3xE6_cn61wqCy_xQ_EwITzJhG3AOgUxMgpFGyDx5aC7E4qzGn4nYVUYPVOo8_aBRsjw/s640/IMG_7197.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I debated whether to include that square! Now I can hardly wait to hear back after they discover it! <br />
<br />
So, lots of piecing this month, and very little quilting. I do love piecing!<br />
The only guilty distraction I have allowed was to try out the <a href="http://theobjectsofdesign.blogspot.com/2016/08/seahorse-tutorial.html" target="_blank">free Seahorse Block</a> at <a href="http://theobjectsofdesign.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">The Objects of Design</a>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I have only recently started following Sally and was thrilled when she shared this cute tutorial. Such a generous treat, I had to give it a whirl! I wish I had selected more contrasting fabrics, but hoping that I can define it a bit more with the quilting. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have thought low contrast would work, then tried to rescue and define it with the quilting. Does this happen to you too? Possibly a bit extra batting under the seahorse will help..<br />
<br />
As if that was not enough temptation, Sally shared another irresistible block this week! (i should mention these patterns are NOT paper-pieced!)<br />
It is the cutest <a href="http://theobjectsofdesign.blogspot.com/2016/08/poodle-tutorial-right-facing.html" target="_blank">Poodle Block</a> ever, and I hope she does not mind that I ripped a photo from her site, to share here..<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I really want to make one, then transform it into a poodle bag during <a href="http://www.elmstreetquilts.com/2016/08/bag-it-coming-this-september.html" target="_blank">BagIt 2017</a>,
starting soon at Elm Street Quilts!<br />
<br />
I have been wondering how everyone has been progressing this month. I tried to recollect if any participants live in areas affected by the Louisiana flooding. Hopefully ya'll are safe and sound.<br />
<br />
Alright, just seven days left to reach your <a href="http://redletterquilts.blogspot.com/p/omg.html" target="_blank">One Monthly Goal</a>. Perhaps this will be a productive weekend for all of us!<br />

I am celebrating this Saturday with Dot #251!<br />
No, nothing all that special about 251; just trying to celebrate each and every day of this journey.<br />
I am writing quickly this morning, to catch the link-up over at QuiltyFolk, where Audrey is hosting this fun QAL: <a href="http://quiltyfolk.blogspot.com/2016/08/august-quilty-365-linkup.html" target="_blank">Quilty365!</a><br />
<br />
I had trouble making up my mind and ended up with <b>two</b> Fourth of July dots...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglvBl2Ro452dkLR4JG_5tXj04r9BHf-glORa4F0jz7D9AFoG1xEpnYyMHFeduTkRjHnHJlN45Ed0Ub1Sn1fezE-Rm7DEpQ-fFrhyphenhyphenYdgm7vi7iX079bhJbs4DATt5TEItMtkvYw_hrzSOU/s1600/Reverse+applique+stars.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglvBl2Ro452dkLR4JG_5tXj04r9BHf-glORa4F0jz7D9AFoG1xEpnYyMHFeduTkRjHnHJlN45Ed0Ub1Sn1fezE-Rm7DEpQ-fFrhyphenhyphenYdgm7vi7iX079bhJbs4DATt5TEItMtkvYw_hrzSOU/s640/Reverse+applique+stars.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
It <i>was</i> quite a party after all.<br />
<br />
At the end of July, I am left behind on the quilting,<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYPhL3t6G8MmpKn6PmlfD0iqcJfQTc6tGDpr-BVLYlfqY0QsP4ueorGxLJ7rXOqDNARv0jqoDbt3FdURQyLMxb6aNZPFWE1HdqMhMcrIr_YNsioSmt3gp5HbOHRKrzLp_IvdXknNePvjo/s1600/quilty365+panel+8_9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="474" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYPhL3t6G8MmpKn6PmlfD0iqcJfQTc6tGDpr-BVLYlfqY0QsP4ueorGxLJ7rXOqDNARv0jqoDbt3FdURQyLMxb6aNZPFWE1HdqMhMcrIr_YNsioSmt3gp5HbOHRKrzLp_IvdXknNePvjo/s640/quilty365+panel+8_9.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
All three of these panels (7th, 8th, and 9th) are prepared for big-stitching. It has been pretty warm around here and I suppose that is my excuse. Seems I need to plan a couple movie nights.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixRwYtaWd4ThQxhKeFmag3EPBt1ziNv8p04RAdoMHjYXtv6-PxGiDOXvm8Mw5yI5X3PsPa106OAWn20iRVV28n-xBsxRZ43NETAaqeln3CkqlzlrirSjFZSWrM3oeWzHTIR__8guVhWa0/s1600/Quilty365+Panel9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixRwYtaWd4ThQxhKeFmag3EPBt1ziNv8p04RAdoMHjYXtv6-PxGiDOXvm8Mw5yI5X3PsPa106OAWn20iRVV28n-xBsxRZ43NETAaqeln3CkqlzlrirSjFZSWrM3oeWzHTIR__8guVhWa0/s640/Quilty365+Panel9.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
These will connect to complete the third quarter-panel of this beast.<br />
<br />
I am keeping up with the daily dot creations and feeling pretty good about that. I love the texture of this quilt and look forward to using it this winter!<br />
<br />
A bit of a cool-off this weekend following some lovely lovely rain two days ago. I hope it is nice in your neighborhood too.<br />
I am off for a morning walk while I can.<br />
<i>Or</i>, I could wake DH for a bit of G-Sale'n.<br />
Always fun to poke the bear...Heidihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00546043492549930952noreply@blogger.com19
